About the Artist
Jeff is a developing landscape and seascape photographer based in the San Francisco Bay area. Raised in Florida, Jeff had always been drawn to the ocean and the beauty of the outdoors. Moving to California more than 18 years ago and seeing the mountains and amazing scenery, Jeff was hooked! After years of hiking, camping, fishing, surfing, snowboarding and spending time traveling along California’s inspiring coastline and backcountry roads of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Jeff has developed an intimate relationship with the beauty of nature.
Jeff got started on photography many years ago in high school when his parents gave him a Ricoh 35mm film camera. Living in rural Gainesville near Paynes Prairie, Florida’s first state preserve, and spending weekends at St Augustine, Jeff became an avid landscape and nature photographer. He honed his skills taking photography classes in school, learning not just techniques but also developing black and white film. He was an active photography hobbyist even as he went on to become the contract management and environmental services professional that he is today. While point-and-shoot and smartphone photography became his approach through the years out of convenience to continue capturing the beauty of nature wherever he went, his wife recently surprised him with a DLSR camera kit for Christmas. This rekindled his passion for the art of photography to better capture his love of the outdoors both in vivid color as well as black and white.
Jeff’s backcountry adventures often take him further than his wife is willing or able. Equipped now with a DLSR camera, lenses and filters, point-and-shoot has become a thing of the past. Jeff was inspired to further develop his skills as a landscape and seascape photographer, with a goal to sharing the amazing images he captures from the mountains to the sea, with his wife and the world. He strives to show fresh perspectives, capture spectacular light and mood in his images to both tell a story and inspire others to a deeper appreciation of God’s gift of nature.
Having lived in the Bay Area for seven years now, Jeff’s wife, family and friends say he is the best tour guide because he’s been and can speak to, not just popular landmarks in California, but even places not always on tour guide lists... magnificent in their purity, untouched by civilization.
